Cross Man: Wounded, Bruised, & Peace

Key Verse: Isaiah 53:5


"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed." - KJV


I. Wounded for us
  • "He was wounded for our transgressions" 
  • one who was pierced (Zechariah 12:10)
  • the wounds of Christ were for us
  • the wounds of Christ were prophesied (Zechariah 13:6)
  • the wounds of Christ were in God's plan for our salvation
  • Christ is our substitute; He took our place

II. Bruised for us
  • "He was bruised for our iniquities"
  • bruises from crown of thorns
  • Why Christ was bruise?
    • for our transgressions
    • how serious our sins
    • how wonderful His love

III. Peace for us
  • "Chastisement of our peace was upon Him"
  • peace was made for us at the cross
  • we have peace with God through faith in Christ (Romans 5:1)
